Hot topic - Census 2011
New data from the 2011 Census were made public on 11 December 2012 by the Office of National Statistics. This release of data included the first 2011 Census information on the characteristics of the migrant population of England and Wales as of 2011.
The Migration Observatory has assembled the following materials: a commentary, key charts on migration-related variables in the current release, maps with Census data, searchable by postcode, and a set of “create-your-own” Census charts by region, with local area information.
Check back or follow the Observatory twitter feed (@MigObs) for updates, as the selection of materials will continue grow as new Observatory analysis becomes available and as the ONS releases additional data.
(The first release of Census data from Scotland was on 17 December 2012, but migration-related details are not expected until summer 2013.)
